POSITION SUMMARY: 

The position is New York based role and is responsible for directly managing assigned venues. Position is accountable for financial success and profitability for restaurants as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Position is accountable for directly managed Tao Group Restaurants as assigned
  • Focus on exceptional service levels fitting the individual concept, remarkable profitability and adherence to Brand (IP) standards, producing a path to growing EBIDTA and enhancing value 
  • Incubation for restaurant and bar operations to re-position existing brands
  • Provide pre-opening guidance and support as required
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and improve processes across the business including controls and talent development, succession planning, cost efficiencies and revenue generation 
  • Develop effective relationships with Restaurant GM’s, technical service, partners and colleagues
  • Develop and nurtures exceptional relationships with Vice Presidents / Directors of Hotels and Partners
  • Coordinate with colleagues on peer and group level, keeps all abreast of challenges and opportunities and strongly supports the drive of Tao Group Restaurants to deliver exceptional results and positive outlooks
  • Define and takes relevant soul to each unit, supporting a strong sense of proprietorship for individual GM’s
  • Focus on and drives topline and flow-through
  • Keep a proactive outlook on brand specific development pipeline, communicating the same with EVP Development, SVP Operations and Brand VP’s
  • Lead and oversees assigned restaurants and bars to deliver our creative vision of excellence
  • Assure that restaurant GM’s are seen and respected as business owners and have full authority, support, autonomy and the tools to deliver results as set out in individual KPI’s 
  • Support, coach and lead restaurant GM’s to success, financially as well as in personal development goals 
  • Identify market changes and trends to pro-actively drive improvement and efficiencies 
  • Liaise closely with partners / owners to combine our visions for successful execution
  • Communicate weekly with partners / VP’s in hotel operations 
  • Review workforce and competence level of colleagues, ensuring we have top talent, ready to meet the needs of our customers and brands 
  • Plan and manage restaurant openings in conjunction with VP Pre-Opening and corporate support teams 
  • Ensure execution is always in line with company guidelines 
  • Lead special projects as requested by the EVP/ SVP Operations
  • Carry out reasonable and exciting additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Tao Restaurant Group
  • Accountable to deliver or exceed targets defined in the Annual Business Plans
  • Drive and coordinate the preparation of budgets and forecasts with respective GMs
  • Review performance data weekly with respective GM’s 
  • Sign responsible for adherence to controls and approvals. Authorizes purchasing as CAPEX execution, in line with outlined process / DOA / Hotel policies
  • Analyze and evaluate results and take necessary action to address non-compliance within urgency
  • Recruit and develop great leaders and prepares them for future growth / inter-company transfers, national and international mobility
  • Provide leadership, direction and intense coaching to support his / her operations team
  • Develop talent, motivating and leading a team to ensure succession planning opportunities both internally and externally as well keeping as a healthy talent bank for future opportunities and openings
  • Ensure the team is motivated, recognized, performance managed and developed as well as fully accountable for their areas of responsibility
  • Ensure all teams have the right people in right roles and ensures that our family trees are cost effective
  • Internal communication with management committee, executives, finance, as well as, external communication with clients, vendors, local authorities, sponsorship partners
  • Write and present reports on the business on monthly bases
  • Able and confident to communicate upwards, is active in meetings and contributes in a positive manner. Ability to lead and influence discussions and encourages two - way communication with the team
  • Ability and confidence to communicate to a varied audience

EDUCATION/WORKING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Three (3) years as Director of Operations with multi venue, multi brand experience
  • Extensive (operational) experience in hospitality and/or restaurant industry
  • Experience in brand management from introduction to completion
  • Must have knowledge of the industry sales perspective
  • 21+ years of age 
  • Managing customer service & brand standards
  • Writing and executing action plans for all reporting requirements 
  • Managing financials such as forecasting, budgeting and P&L of a variety of business units.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD plans of restaurants, bars, kitchens, BOH and public area
  • Must be able to work with various levels within the company both up and down stream, and within customer/client organizations. 
  • Proficient in Windows Office, Microsoft Office, Mac OSX, POS systems
