Pastry Cook at Soba

Pastry Cooks Responsibilities: 

  • Pastry Cooks are in charge of the production of all dessert components, as well as, the plating of desserts during service. 
  • Pastry Cooks also slice bread and make espresso-based coffee beverages during service and complete cleaning tasks at the end of the shift. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 1-3 years of relevant experience with at least six months working in a restaurant kitchen in a role involving accurately executing recipes under the direction of a chef or kitchen manager.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and passion for food and pastry work.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with others.

  • Can accurately follow a written recipe.

  • Has basic knife skills for chopping, slicing, dicing, etc.

  • Can perform basic kitchen math such as converting between gallons, quarts, cups, and tablespoons; scaling a recipe up or down (i.e. double or cut in half)

  • Can reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Is self-motivated and capable of staying on-task while working independently.

  • Can work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).




  • Has experience in a fine dining atmosphere

  • Has knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, and bread baking
